|Remember last year, when those boys spat at me? You crouched over me and shielded me, barking at them to leave me alone. |
"Do you need a hug?" you asked unexpectedly.
You embraced me, and I returned it after a moment, feeling warm.
"You're a good hugger."
When we walk in the hallways, I stay as close to you as possible. And still you cling to my elbow and tug to keep me there.
"What's my spirit animal?" I asked.
"You're obviously a puppy," you answered instantly.
I smiled. "Oh, yeah?"
"Yeah, like, a mischievous, cuddly puppy."
Snickering, I mused, "Mischievous because I turn everything you say around."
"Gurl. That party ended when you left."

"Friends just don't come up to each other and cuddle."
"FALSE!" you countered, pointing your finger in my direction. I bit my lip.
"Me and her freaking cuddle all the time in math," you said.
